Barbil Police Crack Down: 5,200 Litres of Illegal Liquor Seized, 149 Vehicles Booked

Barbil: In a determined bid to ensure a peaceful and incident-free festival season, Barbil Police launched a special enforcement drive on the directions of the Hon’ble Superintendent of Police, Keonjhar, beginning 19 December 2025. The drive targeted illegal liquor trade and violations of Motor Vehicles (M.V.) laws within the jurisdiction of Barbil Police Station.

– During the operation, police teams detected and seized 5,200 litres of illegal country-made liquor from Soyabali Jungle and Serenda Jungle.
– Simultaneously, a traffic enforcement campaign was carried out to curb violations such as riding without helmets, drunken driving, triple riding, over-speeding, and vehicles plying without valid documents.
– As a result, 149 vehicles were booked under the Motor Vehicles Act, with fines amounting to ₹5,62,000 imposed.
– In addition, 26 cases of drunken driving were registered. The vehicles involved were seized, and the accused persons were arrested in accordance with the law.

Barbil Police emphasized that the motto of the drive was public safety—preventing illegal activities and ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules. The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and appealed to citizens to cooperate by following all legal provisions.

Authorities confirmed that such enforcement drives will continue in the larger interest of public safety and community welfare.
