Bangladesh Mob Violence: Hindu Youth Brutally Killed, Seven Arrested

Tensions in Bangladesh escalated further after a Hindu youth, Deepu Chandra Das, was brutally murdered by rioters in Mymensingh district.

The attack was reportedly triggered by accusations of religious blasphemy.

According to police, Deepu was beaten to death by a mob before his body was tied to a tree and set ablaze. He had been working in a garment factory and living in rented housing in Bhaluka’s Dubalia Para area.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of seven suspects linked to the killing: Mohammad Limon Sarkar, Mohammad Tarek Hossain, Mohammad Manik Mia, Ershad Ali, Nijum Uddin, Alomgir Hossain, and Mohammad Miraj Hossain Akon.

The Rapid Action Battalion conducted search operations across multiple locations to apprehend them.

This incident comes amid widespread unrest following the death of student leader Usman Hadi, who had spearheaded violent protests against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The death earlier this month has reignited arson and mob attacks across the country, exposing deep-rooted communal and political tensions.

Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus stated that security forces are intensifying operations to restore order and prevent further violence.
