Balanga Victim Succumbs to Burns at AIIMS Delhi

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the 15-year-old girl from Balanga, Puri district, Odisha, who was critically injured in an arson attack on July 19, 2025, passed away during advanced medical treatment at AIIMS Delhi.

She had initially been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and was airlifted to the national capital for specialised care. Despite tireless efforts by a team of expert doctors, she succumbed to her burn injuries.

The news has triggered shockwaves across the state, prompting an outpouring of grief and renewed discourse around women’s safety and justice in Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took to the social media platform X to express deep sorrow, stating that despite round-the-clock efforts, her life could not be saved. He offered condolences to the grieving family and wished peace for the girl’s soul.

Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the immense efforts made by medical professionals and the government.

OPCC Chief Bhakta Charan Das called for urgent reforms and strict legal action to prevent such tragedies.
