Bahalda Ex-Tahasildar Sentenced to 2 Years RI in DA Case

Baripada, Mayurbhanj | Nov 6, 2025: In a landmark judgment, the Special Judge (Vigilance) in Baripada has sentenced Bhimsen Mangaraj, retired Tahasildar of Bahalda, to two years of rigorous imprisonment for possessing disproportionate assets.

The conviction follows a detailed investigation by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Mangaraj was found to have amassed assets far exceeding his known sources of income during his tenure.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000. Vigilance officials have announced plans to initiate proceedings to halt his pension, citing the gravity of the offence.

This conviction adds to a growing list of successful prosecutions by Odisha Vigilance, reinforcing the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
