New Delhi, July 11(OT Webdesk): The Axum-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) has been extended by four days, delaying the return of Indian astronaut Subhanshu Shukla and his international crewmates.
Originally scheduled to conclude on July 10, the mission now awaits confirmation of safe recovery conditions for the Dragon spacecraft.
The European Space Agency (ESA) indicated the crew—comprising astronauts from India, the USA, Poland, and Hungary—may remain aboard the ISS until at least July 14.
The delay is attributed to adverse weather, which disrupted initial plans.
Operated by Houston Space and jointly sponsored by four nations, the historic mission began on June 26. It focuses on scientific exploration across health, material science, and space technology domains.
Apart from the four participating countries, 31 other nations are also involved in the mission’s collaborative efforts.
As of now, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has not released an official statement regarding Shukla’s revised return timeline
