Assam’s Most Wanted Fugitive Eludes Bhubaneswar Raid in Multi-Crore Scam Case

In a dramatic cross-state operation, Assam Police, in coordination with Commissionerate Police, raided a residential flat in Bhubaneswar’s Infocity area in pursuit of Sameer Patnaik—Assam’s most wanted fugitive linked to multi-crore financial scams.

The raid, conducted at Subhadra Apartment following a tip-off, aimed to apprehend Patnaik, who has long evaded arrest despite pending court warrants.

Officers forcibly entered the premises after repeated knocks went unanswered. Although Patnaik was not found, a woman inside the flat was questioned. She claimed her son, a lawyer, had advised her not to open the door. Her connection to Patnaik remains under scrutiny.

Patnaik had previously been arrested and released on bail.

Fresh warrants issued by Assam authorities have reignited efforts to bring him to justice. The operation underscores growing inter-state collaboration to combat high-value financial crimes.

Further developments are awaited as the investigation continues.
