Anjali Raghav Quits Bhojpuri Industry After Alleged Misconduct by Pawan Singh; Actor Issues Apology
Bhojpuri actress Anjali Raghav has announced her departure from the film industry following an uncomfortable incident involving co-star Pawan Singh at a public event in Lucknow.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Raghav alleged that Singh repeatedly touched her waist under the pretence of removing something stuck to her clothing—an explanation later refuted by her team.
“I felt very bad, angry, and even like crying,” Raghav said, describing her helplessness amid a crowd that overwhelmingly supported Singh. She expressed disappointment over the lack of public intervention and declared, “I will no longer work in the Bhojpuri industry.”
Responding to the allegations, Pawan Singh posted an apology via Instagram Stories, stating he had no “wrong intention” and was unaware of Raghav’s video due to his busy schedule. “Even then, if you were hurt by my behavior, then I apologize,” he wrote.
This controversy adds to Singh’s recent troubles, as his second wife, Jyoti Singh, also accused him of neglect and threatened self-immolation in a separate social media post.
The incident has sparked widespread debate about consent, accountability, and the treatment of women in regional cinema.
