Angul Railway Station to be transformed into modern, culturally vibrant hub by 2025
Bhubaneswar, Aug 6 (UNI) The Angul Railway Station in Odisha is set to undergo a major transformation under the Amrit Station Scheme, with redevelopment work expected to be
completed by December 2025.
The project aims to convert Angul Station into a modern, inclusive, and culturally vibrant railway hub, significantly enhancing the travel experience for passengers across all categories.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources, the redevelopment will prioritize accessibility, especially for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities).
The Phase-I upgrades include the construction of ramps, low-height ticket and help booths, Divyang-friendly toilets and water kiosks, coach position displays, dedicated parking areas, and lifts integrated with the foot overbridge (FOB).
Future developments will include elevators, tactile pathways, Braille signage, accessible flooring and the provision of wheelchairs .
The upgraded station will also feature improved passenger amenities such as public announcement systems,digital signage,enhanced illumination,charging points, CCTV surveillance,automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs),train indicator boards,tourist facilitation counters and one station one Product (OSOP) stalls
Additional work will involve the renovation of waiting halls and restrooms, the development of a second entry point to the station, and the integration of local art and cultural motifs to reflect
Odisha’s heritage.
