Angul: A tragic accident occurred late Thursday night when an oil tanker overturned at Balipasi ghat on National Highway 149 in Angul district.
The vehicle caught fire immediately after the mishap, leading to a massive blaze that spread to the nearby forest area.
The driver, trapped inside the tanker, was burnt alive before rescue teams could reach the spot.
Fire Services personnel from Pallahara, along with Khamar police, rushed to the scene and worked to douse the flames.
The accident caused a major traffic disruption, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway until authorities managed to clear the route.
