Angul Gang-Rape Case: Woman Assaulted in Forest, Two Minors Among Three Arrested

Angul, (OT Webdesk) — In a harrowing incident that has sparked outrage across Odisha, a woman was gang-raped in a forest near Chhendipada on July 3. The assault occurred while she was travelling with her nephew and had stopped to relieve herself.

Three individuals, including two minors, allegedly arrived on a tractor and forcibly assaulted her.

The complaint was lodged days later at Bagdia police station, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police, three special teams were formed. A forensic unit and dog squad were deployed, leading to the arrest of all three accused.

Police have seized critical evidence, including the tractor used in the crime, mobile phones, clothing worn during the assault, and biological samples.

The case has been designated as a “Red Flag” and “special report,” signalling its severity.

Authorities have committed to filing a charge sheet within 30 days and are pushing for a fast-track trial to ensure swift and stringent punishment for the perpetrators.
