(OT Webdesk) Puri, April 28, 2025: The fifth batch of sacred timber has arrived in Puri, marking a significant step in the preparations for the iconic Rath Yatra.
This batch consists of 28 logs, comprising 16 dhaura and 12 asana pieces, sourced from the Kantamala range of the Boudh Division.
The delivery increases the available timber count to 169, with 51 pieces left over from last year.
Despite this progress, the construction of the grand chariots still requires an additional 814 pieces. Of these, 488 are expected to arrive in the near future.
The commencement of construction, scheduled for the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, is expected to infuse the event with devotion and excitement, as millions of pilgrims eagerly await the grand festival.
