Airfield Police Foil Armed Robbery Plan in Bhubaneswar, Six Arrested with Weapons
Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: Airfield police foiled a major armed robbery plan in the capital city today, arresting six accused during a surprise raid at Aryan Nagar, Sundarpada.
Acting on a tip‑off, a special team stormed an abandoned duplex building where the suspects were plotting the crime.
Police seized a cache of weapons and materials, including swords, knives, iron rods, screwdrivers, wire cutters, ropes, chilli powder packets, and seven mobile phones.
Liquor bottles, disposable glasses, and cigarette butts were also recovered from the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kalu Charan Nayak (29), Rahul Majhi (24), R. Raju (20), Pravat Nayak (19), Sujit Kumar Tripathy (24), and Bimal Mohanty (23).
Several of them have prior criminal records in the Bhubaneswar and Ganjam districts.
All six were produced in court, and further investigation is underway to determine their involvement in other criminal activities.
Police officials confirmed that the swift action prevented what could have been a major armed robbery in the city.
