Air India Cancels Bhubaneswar–Delhi Flight Over Cabin Heat

Bhubaneswar, August 4(OT Webdesk) — Air India cancelled its Flight AI500 from Bhubaneswar to Delhi on Sunday after a technical fault led to abnormally high cabin temperatures before take-off.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321, was scheduled to depart at 12:35 pm and arrive in Delhi by 2:55 pm.

This marks the second cancellation by Air India on the same day, following the grounding of its Singapore–Chennai service (AI349) due to extended maintenance requirements.

The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of Air India’s safety protocols.

A recent DGCA audit flagged over 100 violations, including seven Level-1 risks demanding immediate attention.

The audit was prompted by the June 12 crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 near London, which claimed 260 lives.

In a statement, Air India said its Bhubaneswar airport team is assisting affected passengers with alternative arrangements.

Public confidence in Indian aviation appears shaken.

A recent survey revealed that 76% of respondents believe airlines prioritise publicity over safety, while 64% reported experiencing at least one “rough” flight in the past three years.
