AIIMS Bhubaneswar Staffer Shot Dead in Broad Daylight; Prior Enmity Suspected
Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across the capital, an employee of AIIMS Bhubaneswar was shot dead in the Sarkantra area early Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Sudhanshu Khuntia, was reportedly returning home from his night shift when he was ambushed by an unidentified assailant on a scooter.
According to preliminary reports, the attacker fired multiple rounds at close range before fleeing the scene. Eyewitnesses alerted local authorities, but Khuntia succumbed to his injuries before medical help could arrive.
Police sources suggest that the motive behind the murder may be linked to a longstanding personal dispute. Investigators are currently questioning Khuntia’s brother and another individual, both of whom are under suspicion.
Forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed.
The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety in the city, especially in high-traffic zones like Sarkantra.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has yet to issue an official statement, but colleagues of the deceased have expressed deep grief and demanded swift justice.
