AIIMS-Bhubaneswar signs MoU to boost healthcare innovation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (UNI) In a step towards advancing healthcare innovation and promoting clinical entrepreneurship, AIIMS- Bhubaneswar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with KIIT-Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) and Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) Foundation.

The collaboration aims to create a robust platform for developing, validating, and deploying healthcare technologies, and accelerate healthcare innovation growth and attract healthcare
startups to Odisha. It’ll also help to establish joint Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in healthcare, diagnostics, and digital health.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at AIIMS Bhubaneswar in the presence of Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and Mrutyunjay Suar, CEO, KIIT-TBI & Chairman, BCKIC.

“This partnership will position AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a national translational innovation hub, fostering medical product development, technology advancement, effective IP management, and boosting clinical entrepreneurship,” AIIMS-Bhubaneswar executive director Biswas said on the occasion.

Through this MoU, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, KIIT-TBI, and BCKIC will jointly work towards innovation & Startup Programmes, Bootcamps, regulatory workshops, and startup–investor roundtables. Also, Healthcare Technology Validation like Real-world testing of telehealth platforms, AI-based diagnostic tools, and remote monitoring devices, will also be there.

Similarly, for skill Development & entrepreneurship, clinical innovation, technology transfer, and incubation of healthcare startups, will be promoted. A CoE will be established with high-end diagnostic tools, clinical validation pathways, and advanced research facilities.

The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Namrata Misra, CEO, BCKIC & Advisor, KIIT-TBI, Dr. Satyajeet Misra, Dean (Research), AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr. Rituparna Maiti, Secretary, MoU Committee, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr. Jayalaxmi Dash, Manager (Tech-Innovation), KIIT-TBI, and Arpan Ghosh, Manager, BCKIC.

This strategic partnership is expected to transform Odisha into a hub of healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to India’s journey of digital health and medical technology advancement.
