ABPMJAY-GJAY Committee Greenlights Patient-Centric Healthcare Reforms in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: The Odisha government has unveiled a series of patient-centric reforms under the ABPMJAY-GJAY program to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure uninterrupted cashless treatment for beneficiaries.

At a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, officials emphasised strict enforcement measures to curb fraudulent claims and ensure compliance by empanelled hospitals.

The committee approved the inclusion of 73 new state-specific treatment packages in oncology, haematology, and ophthalmology, raising the total number of packages available in Odisha to 2,163.

Further proposals included adopting 121 new oncology packages and revising rates for 55 existing ones, as recommended by the medico-expert committee.

The rollout will also see 1,009 Swasthya Mitras redesignated as Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras, alongside offline claim settlements for dependent children aged 6–18 excluded during the IT transition.

To bolster cancer care, the committee sanctioned an interest-free revolving fund of Rs 10 lakh to the Tata Memorial Centre, enabling cashless access to high-end diagnostic services.

Senior officials from finance, IT, food supplies, and health departments participated in the deliberations, underscoring the government’s commitment to universal health coverage.

These reforms are expected to enhance accessibility, transparency, and patient satisfaction across Odisha’s healthcare system.
