Abinash Mishra Re-elected as President of Odisha Patrakar Sangh for 3rd Term

Bhubaneswar, June 22 (OT Webdesk): The state executive meeting of Odisha’s leading journalist association, the Odisha Patrakar Sangh, was held to elect new office bearers for the term 2025-2028.



The meeting took place on Sunday at Geeta Govind Sadan, where presidents, editors, and executive members from nearly all districts of the state were in attendance.

The discussion began with a focus on the organisation’s structure, followed by an examination of the challenges faced by journalists, particularly those working in rural areas. Major issues such as journalist security, increasing health insurance coverage for journalists from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, including coverage for elderly parents, and the introduction of a pension scheme were highlighted.

The union decided to submit a request letter to the Chief Minister regarding these demands. Following this, the election of office bearers was conducted by Umesh Roy, who served as the election officer.

Abinash Mishra was re-elected as the state president for the third consecutive term. Ramdas Lima was elected as general secretary, while Suresh Dash, Hara Prasad Das, Jugal Shabar, and Ashok Paikrai were elected as vice-presidents. Vishwaranjan Mishra was chosen as the organisation secretary, and the editorship was assigned to Manoj Das, Mitrabhanu Palei, Nalini Pani, and Rasanand Behera. Kishore Rath was elected as the treasurer.

Additionally, 20 individuals were nominated as executive members are: Umesh Roy, Satyabadi Nayak, Shankar Behera, Vijay Patnaik, Laxminarayan Sahu, Sasmita Mallick, Vishnupriya Mohanty, Nrusinha Mohapatra, Tulsiram Jagat, Raghunath Khamba, Nigamananda Das, Sushil Kumar Aich, Rakesh Das, Kisanand Jena, Abhimanyu Maharana, Ashwini Pati, Basudeb Rawal, and Bansidhar Das.
