Abhijit Majumdar Critical: Shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for Advanced Treatment
Bhubaneswar, Sept 4 — Acclaimed Odia music director and singer Abhijit Majumdar has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar following a sharp deterioration in his health.
Known for his iconic contributions to Ollywood and devotional music, Majumdar was initially admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack last Sunday due to a sudden drop in sodium levels.
Despite treatment at two facilities, his condition failed to stabilise, prompting doctors to refer him to AIIMS for advanced care on Wednesday evening.
Sources close to the family revealed that Majumdar is currently unable to eat or sit up, and his sodium levels remain dangerously low.
Family members are at his side, while prominent figures from the Odia film industry—including actors Pradyumna Lenka and Sritam Das—visited him prior to the transfer. “We are praying for his speedy recovery,” said Das, expressing concern over Majumdar’s worsening condition.
Majumdar has been a towering figure in Odia music for over two decades, crafting memorable soundtracks that have defined generations of cinema lovers.
Fans and colleagues across Odisha have taken to social media to share messages of support and hope.
Doctors at AIIMS Bhubaneswar have yet to release an official medical bulletin. Further diagnostic tests are expected to determine the next course of treatment.
