Odisha Cabinet Clears 15 Key Proposals to Boost Investment, Employment, and Public Welfare

Bhubaneswar, Oct 10: In a significant move aimed at accelerating economic growth and enhancing public services, the Odisha State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved 15 major proposals during its 28th meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Friday.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja briefed the media, highlighting the Cabinet’s focus on industrial development, women’s empowerment, and rural welfare. Among the key decisions:

  • Industrial Reforms: The Cabinet approved amendments to the Factories Act, 1948, to attract new investments and generate employment opportunities across the state.
  • Women & MSME Support: New measures were introduced to reduce compliance burdens on small businesses and encourage greater economic participation by women.
  • Paddy Procurement Plan: The government will implement a year-round procurement strategy for both Kharif and Rabi seasons. Only registered farmers will be eligible to sell their produce.
  • Sanitation Drive: A Rs 1,600 crore allocation was sanctioned for the “Swachh Odisha” scheme, to be implemented over five years (2025–2030), aiming to improve sanitation infrastructure and hygiene awareness.
  • Employee Welfare: The Odisha State Employees Insurance Scheme (Technician Service Rules 2025) received formal approval, enhancing benefits for government technicians.

These decisions underscore the Majhi government’s commitment to inclusive development, streamlined governance, and citizen-centric reforms.
