Odisha Launches Homestay Pratistha Yojana-2025 to Boost Rural Tourism and Employment

Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: In a strategic push to promote rural tourism and generate local employment, the Odisha government has launched the Homestay Pratistha Yojana-2025.

The scheme will be effective for five years, until the end of fiscal year 2029–30, and aims to establish 450 new homestay units offering around 1,800 beds across lesser-known and culturally rich regions of the state.

Tourism Minister Pravati Parida announced that the initiative will encourage tourists to stay in village homes, offering authentic cultural experiences while creating income opportunities for rural families.

Eligible residents of designated gram panchayats will receive financial incentives to set up new homestay accommodations.

To qualify, applicants must be over 18 years of age, possess a valid Aadhaar card linked to a bank account, and have no criminal convictions.

The scheme also emphasises community participation in tourism, aiming to preserve Odisha’s heritage while enhancing its digital discoverability.

This move aligns with Odisha’s broader strategy to decentralise tourism, empower local communities, and position the state as a hub for immersive, grassroots travel experiences.
