Affordable Eats Take Off at Bhubaneswar Airport with Udaan Yatri Cafe
(OT Webdesk)In a move set to redefine airport dining, Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the Udaan Yatri Cafe at Bhubaneswar Airport, offering travellers access to quality food and beverages at pocket-friendly prices.
This initiative, part of a broader central government push, aims to make airport amenities more inclusive and affordable.
Traditionally, airport food courts have been criticised for inflated prices, often charging two to three times the market rate.
The Udaan Yatri Cafe counters this trend by serving tea, coffee, and snacks at subsidised rates, ensuring that passengers—especially budget travellers—can enjoy refreshments without financial strain.
The Bhubaneswar outlet joins a growing network of Udaan Yatri Cafes, first launched in Kolkata in December 2024 and subsequently expanded to Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
The government plans to open 10–15 more such cafes at major airports across India by next year.
Minister Naidu also highlighted the rapid growth of India’s aviation sector, announcing plans for a third terminal at Bhubaneswar Airport to accommodate rising passenger traffic.
Additionally, the Puri Airport project has received central approval, awaiting further action from the state government. Under the Viksit Bharat scheme, India aims to develop 350 new airports by 2047.
With affordable dining now on the menu, Bhubaneswar Airport is setting a new benchmark for traveller-friendly infrastructure.
