Odisha Deputy CM directs Institutions, Colleges to enforce POSH Act strictly

Bhubaneswar, July 23 (UNI) Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida today said that all educational institutions and government offices have been instructed to establish Internal
Committees to ensure effective implementation of the POSH Act.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at an orientation programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013,widely known as the POSH Act , Parida underlined the government’s commitment to creating safe and dignified workplaces for all.

She stated that appropriate action would be taken against offenders after a thorough investigation, while also cautioning that individuals who file false complaints will be held accountable.

Addressing over 600 employees of Lok Seva Bhavan, the Deputy CM urged everyone to speak out against sexual harassment and contribute to fostering a workplace culture rooted in respect and equality.

“Both men and women can be victims of sexual harassment,” she said, adding that it is essential for all employees to be well-informed about the provisions of the POSH Act and to remain vigilant.

Parida further emphasized the importance of harmony and mutual respect among all genders to ensure not only a safe working environment but also a more progressive society.
