PURI, JUNE 17(OT Webdesk): With the sacred Snana Purnima concluded, the divine siblings—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra—entered their recuperative seclusion within the Anasara Gruha.
Today, the revered Osa Lagi ritual was observed at Srimandir, symbolising the healing and spiritual restoration of the deities ahead of the grand Rath Yatra.
Guided by the Raj Vaidya, the temple’s Ayurvedic physician, the ritual featured the application of Phuluri Tela, a fragrant herbal oil infused with Ketaki, Malli, Boula, Champa, sandalwood, camphor, and sesame oil.
This age-old medicinal tradition is believed to rejuvenate the divine trio during their fortnight-long retreat.
As part of the ritual, Osa, a sacred offering prepared by the Sudha Suara servitors, was presented after the Madhyanha Dhupa (midday meal offering).
Throughout this period, the deities are sustained with fruit juices and traditional herbal preparations, ensuring their symbolic recovery before public reappearance.
Meanwhile, the Rupakara Sevayats are meticulously crafting the wooden chariots, racing against time for the Rath Yatra scheduled on June 27.
Devotees across the globe eagerly await Lord Jagannath’s re-emergence, as the Osa Lagi ritual reinforces both faith and the grandeur of Odia tradition.
