Illegal Iron Fines Transport Busted in Barbil: Two Arrested, Vehicle Seized

Barbil : In a decisive crackdown on illegal mineral transportation, the Barbil police arrested two individuals and seized a truck carrying iron fines near Barbil College Parking on State Highway 10B.

According to police reports, the incident unfolded on May 4, when Ashok Kumar Nayak, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Barbil Police Station, intercepted a 16-wheeler truck bearing registration number OD09P0947. The vehicle, traveling from Barbil Town towards Serenda, was found to be carrying iron fines without valid possession or transportation documents.

Upon questioning, the driver failed to present necessary documentation, prompting police to detain him. Further investigation led to a raid, culminating in the arrest of the vehicle owner. Authorities seized the truck along with its illegal load, reinforcing their commitment to curbing unauthorized mineral transportation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Dilawar (24), son of Md Jamil, resident of Barkat Nagar and Anil Mahakud (41), son of Kartikeswar Mahakud, resident of Belkundi, both from Barbil, Keonjhar district.

Legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the law, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act. Authorities have reaffirmed their stance on combating illegal mining-related activities and ensuring stringent enforcement of mineral transportation regulations.
