Odisha prepares for first phase elections to be held tomorrow

Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) May 12: As Odisha gears up for the first phase of elections scheduled for tomorrow, campaigning came to a close yesterday (May 11).
In this phase, which coincides with the fourth phase of the General Elections 2024, four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state are set to go to polls on May 13.
Reports indicate that a total of 37 candidates will be contesting for Lok Sabha seats in Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Berhampur during this phase.
Moreover, 28 assembly seats under these four Lok Sabha constituencies will see a total of 243 candidates vying for victory. Approximately 6.287 million voters are expected to participate in the first phase elections in the state.
Of this electorate, there are 3.097 million male voters and 3.189 million female voters. During the first phase elections, voters will cast their ballots in 7,333 polling booths, with 60 percent of these booths set to be live-streamed.
Additionally, there are 1,294 centenarian voters registered for the first phase of Odisha polls. Polling will commence at 7 am and conclude at 4 pm in 1,200 polling stations. Similarly, voting will extend until 5 pm in 3,522 polling stations and until 6 pm in 2,575 polling booths.
