54th State Police Shooting Competition Concludes at PTI Byree, SOG Bhubaneswar Emerges Champion

The 54th State Police Shooting Competition concluded at the Police Training Institute (PTI), Byree in Jajpur district on March 1, 2026.

The four‑day event saw the participation of 16 teams and 269 personnel from across Odisha, competing in rifle, revolver/pistol, and carbine/sten gun categories.

ADGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest, commending the shooters for their dedication and urging them to continue honing their skills for national‑level contests.

Individual honours went to Havildar Manoranjan Maharana, who was declared Best Rifleman, while Assistant Commandant Manas Ranjan Panda stood out by winning both Best Revolverman and Best Sten Shooter titles.

In team events, the Special Operations Group (SOG), Bhubaneswar dominated across all categories, clinching the Rifle, Revolver, and Sten Championships.

With the highest aggregate marks, SOG also lifted the Overall Championship Trophy.

Senior officers, including ADGP (SAP) Rajesh Kumar and IGP (SAP) Gajbhiye Satish Kuma,r were present, along with felicitations for past achievers in police shooting competitions.
