Ratna Bhandar Inventory at Jagannath Temple to Begin March 25, 2026

The Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced that the long‑awaited inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, the sacred treasury of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, will commence on March 25, 2026.

The decision was finalised during a meeting of the Temple Management Committee chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, with senior officials including SJTA Chairperson Anu Garg and security head Girish Chandra Murmu.

The inventory will be conducted in three phases—covering the active treasury, the outer chamber, and finally the inner Ratna Bhandar, which houses the most ancient ornaments of Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

A 14‑page Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the Odisha Government will guide the process.

The team will include temple servitors, Reserve Bank of India representatives, and expert gemologists and goldsmiths from public sector banks.

Importantly, daily rituals and sacred ceremonies will continue uninterrupted during the exercise.

Officials have described the inventory as a “once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity” to catalogue priceless treasures while ensuring transparency, security, and devotion.

This historic step is expected to strengthen faith among devotees while preserving Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
