Odisha Police Marks Republic Day with Patriotic Flag Lowering Ceremony

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police hosted a solemn state-level flag-lowering ceremony at the OSAP 7th Battalion premises in Bhubaneswar, marking the conclusion of Republic Day celebrations with patriotic fervour and cultural pride.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi graced the occasion asthe  chief guest, alongside DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Police Commissioner S. Dev Dutta Singh, and other senior officials.

Retired police officers also joined the gathering, underscoring the force’s legacy of discipline and service.

The ceremony featured stirring musical renditions by police bands from across districts, performing patriotic tunes including the National Anthem, Vande Mataram, Saare Jahan Se Achha, and Odisha Mo Odisha.

Adding cultural vibrancy, battalions presented traditional dances: Dhemsha by OSAP 3rd Battalion (Koraput), Khukri by OSAP 2nd Battalion (Jharsuguda), and Sambalpuri by 5th IRBN (Boudh).

These performances highlighted Odisha’s rich tribal and folk heritage.

As the national flag was lowered at sunset, the ceremony symbolised unity, discipline, and national integration, reinforcing the police force’s role in safeguarding law and order while celebrating India’s cultural diversity.
