Purvodaya Perspectives 2025: Odisha Governor Highlights Eastern India’s Role in National Growth
Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurated the Purvodaya Perspectives 2025 International Conference in Bhubaneswar, underscoring the pivotal role of Eastern India in shaping the nation’s future growth trajectory.
Delivering the keynote address, the Governor highlighted that the resurgence of Eastern India would ignite a new phase of development across the region, with Odisha at the forefront.
He described the conference as a reflection of India’s evolving aspirations, civilizational confidence, and collective commitment to unlocking the full potential of the East.
Recalling history, Dr Kambhampati noted that Eastern India once thrived with prosperous ports, trade networks, renowned educational centres, and vibrant spiritual communities, but later faced neglect and infrastructural challenges.
He emphasised that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Purvodaya Mission recognises the region’s rise as vital to India’s progress and the vision of a developed nation by 2047.
Highlighting Odisha’s strengths—its natural resources, long coastline, skilled workforce, and cultural identity—the Governor pointed to recent initiatives such as entry into the semiconductor ecosystem, expansion of rail and port infrastructure, development of green hydrogen zones, and tourism projects.
He also stressed reviving Odisha’s historic maritime identity as Kalinga to strengthen ties with Southeast Asia, aligning with India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific partnerships.
The event also featured addresses by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (via video), Nepal’s Ambassador Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma, Aparna Ray from the Ministry of External Affairs, and Siddharth Pradhan, former Government of India Secretary and Energy Forum Trustee.
The conference aims to shape practical policies to strengthen economic corridors linking Eastern India with Southeast Asia, fostering sustainable and inclusive prosperity.
