24-Hour Internet Ban Imposed in Bhadrak Following Violent Clashes

Bhadrak internet shutdown

Bhubaneswar, June 12, (OT Webdesk )– In an urgent measure to maintain law and order, authorities in Odisha’s Bhadrak district have imposed a 24-hour internet shutdown, effective from 6 AM on June 12, 2025, across five affected areas—Bhadrak Municipality, Bhadrak Block, Dhamnagar NAC, Dhamnagar Block, and Tihidi Block.

The restrictions come in response to a violent group clash, which led to the death of one youth and multiple injuries. Officials fear that inflammatory content on social media could further escalate tensions.

Bhadrak Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar Raut, urged residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading misinformation.

To curb unrest, 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence. Security has been tightened across the district, with officials monitoring the situation closely.

Local authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and cooperate with law enforcement as efforts to restore normalcy continue. Internet services are expected to resume at 6 AM on June 13, 2025, following security assessments.
