23 Odisha tourists stranded in trouble-torn Nepal repatriated safely to country

Bhubaneswar, Sep 11 (UNI) About 23 tourists from Odisha, stranded amid violence and political instability in the Himalayan country of Nepal, have been brought safely back by a joint and well-coordinated exercise by the State and Central government, a senior official here informed today.

They are all safe and sound and have been repatriated after a 48-hour shutdown and prevailing chaos in the neighbouring country.
After the reopening of the airport at Kathmandu, the stranded Odisha tourists, along with others of different States, were flown back to India, added the official.

Both the Government in the State and Centre prioritized the safety of Indian citizens. Aware of the plight of the stranded tourists, the Odisha Government sought the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs, and the ministry promptly took up the matter with the Indian embassy at Kathmandu.

The coordinated effort assisted by the Ambassador of India to Romania paid dividends with the safe return of tourists trapped amid violence and unrest in the Himalayan country, added the official.
The 23 Odia tourists, who were safely brought back are – Ajay Kumar Panda, Mamina Panda, Pankaj Kumar Dhal, Bharat Kumar Swain, Kamini Swain, Sharda Prasanna Kar, Rima Kar, Manoj Kumar Mishra, Suren Dalai, Viren Dalai, Parsuram Dalai, Purnachandra Dalai, Prasannajit Dalai, Brajkishore Mishra, Lopamudra Mishra, Shreyan Saurabh Mishra, Santosh Kumar Pani, Sasmita Pani, Bagmipriya Pani, Pramod Kumar Mishra, Rajshree Mishra, Baishnab Sahu and Suresh Chandra Sahu, concluded the official
