17 detained for suspicious movement in Ramnagar area: Jamboo Marine Police

Kendrapara, Aug 2 (UNI) The Jamboo Marine Police late last night detained 17 unidentified individuals who were moving suspiciously in the Ramnagar area under the Jamboo Marine Police Station.
They failed to provide valid identification or addresses, informed Soumya Ranjan Biswal, IIC of the Jamboo Marine Police Station.

“Locals from Ramnagar informed the police that a group of outsiders was moving around suspiciously.

“Acting on the tip-off, we rushed to the spot and detained 14 individuals initially. During questioning, they claimed to be from Bihar and had come in search of work.

All were speaking in Hindi dialects,” said Biswal.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the Aadhaar cards they possessed appeared to be fake. The matter was escalated to senior officials for further investigation.

The suspects were sent to the District Headquarters for verification of their Aadhaar cards and to determine their true identities and origin.

Biswal added that the action was part of an ongoing drive to detect Bangladeshi infiltrators.

“If it is established that they are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, appropriate legal action will be initiated,” he said.
