150 Tins of Suspected Counterfeit Edible Oil Seized in Deogaon Raid

In a late-night crackdown, Kantabanji police, in coordination with Deogaon police, seized a mini truck loaded with 150 tins of edible oil in Dumerapita under Bandhpada outpost, Balangir district.

The oil, reportedly of a local brand, is suspected to be counterfeit and was allegedly being transported without valid documentation.

Sources indicate the consignment was brought in by a local businessman for unauthorised sale. Preliminary investigation suggests that over 500 tins of fake oil may be stored across various locations in the district.

The seized vehicle is also reportedly linked to a theft case, raising further concerns about the operation’s legality.

Police officials stated that a deeper investigation could uncover more layers of this illicit trade.

Locals have demanded intervention from senior authorities to dismantle the network allegedly distributing substandard edible oil across the region.
