14 Candidates Confirmed for Nuapada By-Election 2025 as Nomination Withdrawal Ends
Nuapada, October 24, 2025: The political landscape in Nuapada is heating up as the final list of candidates for the 2025 by-election has been confirmed.
Following the conclusion of the nomination withdrawal process, 14 contenders remain in the fray, setting the stage for a multi-cornered contest.
Among the prominent candidates are:
- Jay Dholakia from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
- Snehangini Chhuria, representing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)
- Ghasiram Majhi from the Indian National Congress
- Ramakanta Hati of the Samajwadi Party
- Hemant Tandi from the Bahujan Mukti Party
- Shukadhar Dandsena of the Odisha Janata Dal
They are joined by eight Independent candidates: Ashraya Mahandan, Er. Chakranta Jena, Bhuvan Lal Sahu, Kishore Kumar Bag, Nita Bag, Lakshmikant Tandi, Bhaktabandhu Dharua, and Lochan Majhi.
The Election Commission also reported the rejection of five nominations during scrutiny.
These include BSP’s Rajaram Sahu, Rastriya Paribartan Dal’s Sitaram Behera, and three Independents—Kamal Kumar Chhatria, Purushottam Behera, and Bhujabal Adabangu.
With the administrative formalities complete, campaigning is expected to intensify in the coming days. The entire election process is scheduled to conclude by Sunday, November 16, 2025.
