12-foot crocodile rescued from village pond in Odisha
Kendrapara, Oct 31 (UNI) A 12-foot-long saltwater crocodile was rescued today from a pond at Alava village under Pattamundai Municipality in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
According to sources, villagers spotted the giant reptile in the pond and immediately alerted forest officials. A team from Bhitarkanika Forest Range reached the spot and, after a challenging three-hour operation, successfully captured the crocodile.
The crocodile was later released into the wilds of Bhitarkanika National Park.
Villagers alleged that fish worth around Rs 1.5 lakh, recently released into the pond, were destroyed by the crocodile. They have demanded compensation for their losses.
