Rs 20,500 Crore PM-KISAN Boost: Modi’s 20th Instalment Reaches 9.7 Crore Farmers

Varanasi/Bhubaneswar, August 2(OT Webdesk): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disbursed Rs 20,500 crore under the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, benefiting over 9.7 crore farmers across India, including thousands in Odisha.

Each eligible farmer received Rs 2,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), continuing the government’s annual support of Rs 6,000 in three equal instalments.

With this release, the cumulative disbursement under PM-KISAN since its launch in February 2019 has reached Rs 3.69 lakh crore.

Odisha’s agriculture department confirmed that Aadhaar-linked accounts are ready to receive the funds, which are expected to help farmers manage input costs during the ongoing Kharif season and bolster resilience against market and climate challenges.

The scheme has seen rapid expansion, with over 1 crore new farmers added during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in November 2023, and another 25 lakh enrolled within 100 days of the new government’s tenure starting June 2024.

The previous instalment, released in February 2025 from Bhagalpur, Bihar, disbursed Rs 22,000 crore to 9.8 crore farmers.
