Bhubaneswar, June 19(OT Webdesk): In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public programme at Janata Maidan, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has announced major traffic diversions to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and heightened security on June 20.
Modi will be leading a roadshow from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Janata Maidan between 3 PM and 6 PM.
The event also commemorates the first anniversary of the current Odisha government.
To manage the anticipated surge in traffic, several routes have been rerouted:
- Cuttack buses must proceed via Rasulgarh – Vani Vihar – Acharya Vihar – Apollo – Sainik School.
- Khurda buses will be directed through Jaydev Vihar – Apollo – NALCO – Kalinga Hospital Road.
- Puri-bound commuters should use Kalpana – Raj Mahal – Sishu Bhawan, parking near Capital Hospital Square.
- Heavy goods vehicles from Khurda will be diverted at Pitapalli Square via Chandaka; those from Cuttack via Balikuda and Trishulia.
Designated parking zones have been set up near Sainik School, XIMB, NALCO Square, and Behera Sahi, with specific spaces for VIPs, media, and emergency vehicles.
Citizens are advised to avoid the route between the airport and Janata Maidan during the restricted hours. Emergency vehicles will be exempt from these regulations.
Commissioner Dr. Sures Dev Datta Singh has urged residents to cooperate with the arrangements to ensure public safety and seamless proceedings.
