Odisha Govt Launches Beneficiary Scrutiny Drive to Clean Up Subhadra Yojana List
In a bid to enhance transparency and ensure the rightful distribution of welfare benefits, the Odisha government has initiated a comprehensive verification drive under its flagship Subhadra Yojana.
The move comes after widespread complaints from women who failed to receive the third Rs 5,000 instalment disbursed on Raksha Bandhan.
The Women and Child Development Department has directed multiple agencies to cross-check beneficiary data.
The Transport Department has been asked to share details of four-wheeler owners, as vehicle ownership disqualifies applicants. Simultaneously, the Food Supplies Department is verifying records of deceased beneficiaries to update the list.
Authorities are also re-verifying women who sold paddy, ensuring that only eligible recipients remain on the roster. The scrutiny process is expected to be completed within 15 days.
Officials say the initiative aims to uphold the integrity of the Subhadra Yojana and guarantee that financial aid reaches deserving women. Over 1 crore women have already received benefits, but the latest complaints have prompted a swift and targeted response.
This drive underscores the government’s commitment to empowering women through accurate and accountable welfare delivery.
