Odisha DGP felicitates 41 sportspersons on National Sports Day

Bhubaneswar, Aug 29 (UNI) Odisha Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania today felicitated 41 outstanding sportspersons of Odisha Police on the occasion of National Sports Day, observed to mark the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

The DGP lauded the sportspersons for their extraordinary talent and excellence, stating that their achievements have enhanced the reputation of Odisha Police across the country in recent years.

Khurania expressed confidence that the felicitation would inspire young talents in Odisha to take up sports and motivate them to achieve greater milestones in the future.

Highlighting recent achievements, he praised seven Odisha Police athletes for their remarkable success at the World Police and Fire Games held in Birmingham, USA.
These sportspersons created history by winning 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, bringing glory to the state police.

The DGP further expressed hope that more Odisha Police sportspersons would participate in national and international events in the coming years, thereby enhancing the organization’s prestige.

During the ceremony, held at R.K. Padhi Memorial Hall, Cuttack IPS Mess, the DGP presented awards and cash prizes to the 41 sportspersons and wished them a bright future. The event was attended by senior police officers of the state.
