Odisha CM to Unveil 650-Bed Boost to Koraput Medical College

Koraput, (OT Webdesk) — In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in southern Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to inaugurate a newly constructed 650-bed facility at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.

The expansion is expected to significantly improve access to advanced medical services for residents of Koraput and neighbouring districts, including parts of Chhattisgarh.

For years, patients from these regions have had to travel to cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, and Visakhapatnam for treatment due to limited local capacity.

Officials anticipate that the new facility will not only ease this burden but also pave the way for the recruitment of additional medical professionals, enhancing overall healthcare delivery in the region.

Following the inauguration, CM Majhi will address a public gathering at Koraput Government College, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare in underserved areas.
