Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts hot and humid weather conditions for Odisha starting from Saturday, alongside ongoing thunderstorm activity. A heatwave alert has been issued for May 20-21.
On May 18, the IMD anticipates hot and humid conditions in specific areas including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. There’s also a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning in Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Ganjam, and Gajapati, with the possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershowers in parts of South Odisha.
For May 19, a yellow warning for hot and humid conditions is issued for selected regions including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in areas such as Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD indicates a potential heatwave resurgence on May 20, with warnings for selected places in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Kandhamal. Furthermore, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may affect Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore.
