Cuttack Police Enforce Strict Diwali Firecracker Timings to Curb Pollution
Cuttack, Odisha — In a bid to ensure a safe and eco-conscious Diwali, the Cuttack Police have announced strict time restrictions on firecracker bursting across the city.
Residents will be permitted to burst crackers only between 7 PM and 9 PM on Diwali night.
The directive, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishikesh Khilari, mirrors similar measures already in place in Bhubaneswar. The move aims to reduce air and noise pollution while promoting responsible celebration practices.
“As Diwali is tomorrow, I request every citizen of Cuttack to follow the rules and burst crackers only between 7 PM and 9 PM,” said DCP Khilari, urging residents to adhere to guidelines issued by the State Pollution Control Board.
Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violators who burst crackers beyond the permitted hours. Police have also issued safety advisories, including:
- Use firecrackers only in open and safe areas
- Keep children away from fireworks
- Store crackers away from flammable materials
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents
In light of Kali Puja celebrations, special security arrangements have been made at major pandals, temples, and sensitive zones to maintain public order.
The police have also appealed for an eco-friendly Diwali, encouraging citizens to opt for green crackers and minimise pollution to safeguard public health and the environment.
