Odisha CM Launches 471 Panchayat Offices, Disburses Housing Aid to 48,693 Families
In a major push for rural development and inclusive welfare, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated 471 new Gram Panchayat offices across the state on Sunday.
The initiative aims to strengthen grassroots governance and improve access to public services in remote areas.
The event, held at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall in Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, also marked the release of the first instalment under Phase 3 of the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana.
A total of 48,693 beneficiaries—excluding those from Kalahandi and Nuapada districts—received housing assistance. This follows Phase 1 and Phase 2, which supported 60,000 and 50,000 families, respectively.
Eligible recipients include persons with disabilities (≥40%), widows, patients with serious illnesses, families of martyrs, Padma Shri awardees, and victims of natural disasters or elephant attacks.
CM Majhi emphasised the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social equity, stating that the new infrastructure and financial support reflect Odisha’s vision for empowered rural communities.
