Chanchal Rana Takes Charge as BDA Vice Chairman, Sets Vision for Smart Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, October 17, 2025: Senior IAS officer Chanchal Rana officially assumed office as the 27th Vice Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Friday, marking a pivotal moment in the city’s urban transformation journey.

On his first day, Rana convened a strategic meeting with senior BDA officials to outline developmental priorities and chart a roadmap for Bhubaneswar’s future.

Emphasising collective action, he called for renewed efforts to shape Bhubaneswar into a modern, smart, and clean city.

The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing urban development schemes and identifying areas that require targeted intervention.

Rana urged officials to align with the state government’s vision and accelerate infrastructure upgrades and governance reforms.

BDA Secretary Manas Ranjan Padhi and other senior officers expressed full support for Rana’s leadership and pledged to work in tandem with his forward-thinking agenda.

In addition to his new role at BDA, Rana has also been appointed Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Managing Director of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, positioning him at the helm of the city’s integrated development strategy.
