BJP Unveils First List of 71 Candidates for Bihar Assembly Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11.

The announcement, made after a Central Election Committee meeting chaired by BJP national president JP Nadda on October 12, signals the party’s strategic push to retain strongholds and challenge opposition in swing constituencies.

Among the prominent names are Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, contesting from Tarapur and Lakhisarai, respectively.

Minister Nitin Nabin will represent Bankipur, while senior leader Renu Devi is fielded from Bettiah.

The elections will cover all 243 Assembly seats, with vote counting set for November 14.

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has also finalised its seat-sharing formula: BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, LJP (Ram Vilas) will contest 29, and both Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha will contest six seats each.

With the candidate list now public, the NDA is gearing up for an intense campaign season featuring rallies, roadshows, and grassroots outreach across Bihar.
