Class 4 Student Brutally Assaulted by Headmaster in Bolangir School

Bolangir,  — October 13, 2025: A disturbing incident unfolded at Karamtala Upper Primary School in Bolangir district when a Class 4 student was allegedly beaten by the headmaster during school hours.

The assault occurred around 10 a.m. while students were playing on campus.

According to eyewitness accounts, headmaster Kumud Ranjan Meher struck six to seven students with a stick. Among them, Prahlad Rana, son of Pratap and Jyotsna Rana, sustained six blows to his head and body, resulting in heavy bleeding from a head injury.

Prahlad was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment. His father has filed a formal complaint at Saintala police station, demanding strict action against the headmaster.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents and local residents, who gathered outside the school demanding accountability and justice. Community leaders have urged the Education Department to initiate disciplinary proceedings and reinforce student safety protocols.

Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the investigation is underway. Legal action will be taken based on medical reports and witness testimonies.
