Arya Samaj Marks 150 Years of Reform and Awakening in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: The 150th Foundation Day of Arya Samaj was commemorated with fervour and reflection at the Arya Mahasammelan 2025 held in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed the gathering, highlighting the enduring legacy of Swami Dayanand Saraswati and the transformative role Arya Samaj has played in India’s socio-cultural evolution.
Founded during British rule, the Arya Samaj emerged as a reformist movement challenging blind faith, caste discrimination, and regressive social norms.
Swami Dayanand’s vision emphasised education, women’s empowerment, and the revival of Vedic values—principles that continue to inspire generations.
“Arya Samaj is not just a religious movement—it is a moral, educational, and social revolution,” said CM Majhi. He urged the youth to awaken their inner strength and develop wisdom, drawing from Dayanand’s ideals.
The event saw participation from prominent figures,s including Swami Bratanand Saraswati, Jagadish Prasad Khadanga, and Yogendra Khattar. A commemorative souvenir was also released to mark the occasion.
