
Two Minor Boys Feared Drowned in Kathajodi River; Rescue Ops Intensify
Cuttack, Oct 12: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon near Kulasarichua in 42 Mouza, Cuttack, when two minor boys, aged 11 and 12, went missing in the Kathajodi River.
According to eyewitnesses, the children had gone to bathe in the river and were swept away by a sudden surge in the current around 1 PM.
Despite immediate rescue attempts by locals, the boys could not be located. Authorities were promptly alerted, and a fire services team from Chauliaganj arrived at the scene to launch an intensive search operation.
Officials have indicated that scuba divers may be deployed if necessary to aid in the search.
Preliminary reports suggest the boys are residents of Bastakundal village in Cuttack district. Their identities remain undisclosed as families await confirmation.
The riverbank has since become a gathering point for anxious relatives and villagers, hoping for a breakthrough in the rescue efforts.
This incident has cast a pall over the local community, highlighting the dangers posed by unpredictable river currents during seasonal transitions.
