Heavy rainfall alert Odisha July 2025

Odisha Braces for Heavy Rainfall as Southwest Monsoon Begins Retreat

Odisha is set to experience a final burst of heavy rainfall as the southwest monsoon enters its retreating phase.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts, forecasting thunderstorms and moderate to heavy showers accompanied by winds reaching 30–40 kmph.

Recent rainfall across the state has ranged between 7 mm and 11 mm, with both northern and southern regions receiving consistent showers.

The IMD expects the monsoon to withdraw from Odisha within the next three to four days, bringing clearer skies and reduced humidity.

Farmers have seen benefits from recent low-pressure systems that replenished soil moisture, although no official statement has been released regarding crop recovery.

Meanwhile, coastal districts like Puri remain on high alert, with authorities instructed to monitor conditions closely over the next 48 hours.

As Odisha transitions out of the monsoon season, residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
