
Jharkhand Police hold key review meeting with west bengal & Odisha officials ahead of Ghatshila By-Election
Ranchi, Oct 10 (UNI) In preparation for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election scheduled on November 11, Jharkhand Police has intensified security measures to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair polling environment.
As part of these efforts, the IG Campaign convened an important review meeting today at the Jharkhand Police Headquarters auditorium in Ranchi, involving senior police officials from West Bengal and Odisha.
The meeting, also conducted via video conferencing, focused on strengthening security arrangements in the border areas ahead of the election.
The discussions emphasised interstate coordination and joint action, particularly to prevent the movement of illegal liquor, narcotics, arms, and unaccounted money.
It was decided to establish and enhance the operational efficiency of mirror check posts in the border regions to monitor and control illicit activities.
Special mirror check posts will be set up around districts adjoining the Ghatshila constituency, including Jhargram and Purulia in West Bengal and Mayurbhanj in Odisha, which will be operational 24/7.
According to officials, these measures aim not only to curb illegal activities but also to keep a strict watch on cross-border movements of criminals and Naxal elements.
